Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

Required Skills and Knowledge

The candidate must demonstrate the ability to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including evidence of the ability to:

manage rig operations on at least two occasions, including:

establishing camp location and infrastructure

identifying issues, exploring options to resolve identified issues and implementing best solutions that resolve issues with rig operations

organising supplies and expendable requirements to maintain the life of the planned work activity

solving logistical problems to maintain access to supplies and resources for rig operations and employee welfare

establishing and reporting on new lease arrangements.

During the above, the candidate must:

locate and apply required legislation, documentation, policies and procedures for managing rig operations

implement the requirements, procedures and techniques for the management of rig operations, including:

identifying, addressing and reporting potential hazards and risks

implementing emergency response plan and procedures

identifying, addressing and reporting environmental issues

checking all contractor-supplied equipment
